Grande parte do programa do clube de desbravadores é construído em torno de atividades físicas, ao ar livre e hobby`s. Segundo o manual do clube de desbravadores, o foco nisto explica-se porque 'os jovens entre 10 e 15 anos de idade estão em um estágio de crescimento e desenvolvimento físico muito rápido'. Segundo a filosofia do clube, atividades que envolvam contato com a natureza, ação, aventura, desafio e atividades em grupo, 'oferecem oportunidades para o desenvolvimento de novas atitudes e habilidades que produzem o crescimento pessoal, de equipe e espírito de comunidade', além do 'amor pela criação'
